It was a great opportunity to hear from Dr. Kate McLellan for BYU-Hawaii Business Management Society's "My Leadership Story" Event on January 28, 2020.

This gorgeous multi-times weight-lifting champion, former Pilates instructor and manager, successful projects and clinical research manager, and our university's Exercise & Sports Science assistant professor, mother of five, has shared her great and roller-coaster-ride of experiences to teach us the principle of learning to focus on our environment and our experience more than on our quest for the needle.

Her topic: "It's not about the needle, it's about the HAYSTACK." has made me realize and re-evaluate a lot of views and plans I have for my life. I admire her dedication and enthusiasm to try new things and take risks, and to work on improving herself and proving her worth for the people she has worked with. She has also shared how plans were not always the reality, but that we can always find joy in the journey, , while also emphasizing the importance of checking out EDUCATION from our list and getting that Bachelor Degree.

From what I learned from her experience, it is never too late to choose something that you really love to do, and that could definitely change over time; that is okay, as long as you're willing to put your time and energy in learning and improving your skills with enthusiasm, and always strive for excellence in whatever it is that you do.
